Village Rockstars is India’s Official Oscar Entry
Village Rockstars will represent India in the Best Foreign Language Film category and have bagged a lot of national and international awards. It is screened at several national and international festivals and is collecting a lot of praise for a beautiful and simple story.
The film is an Indian Assamese language charming film sending a powerful message to the universe. The movie directed by Rima Das is a story of young Dhunu (Bhanita Das) who lives in Chaygaon village in Assam with her widow mother and elder brother Manabendra. She learned to manage her life within the surrounding of hostile calamities and weave her own dreams of owning a guitar and starting her own Rockstar band.
The movie has won Best Feature Film, Best child artist, Best location sound recordist, and Best editing at 65th National film awards among other national and international awards. It is a simple and beautiful film made with almost nothing and is the work of the one-woman army, Rima Das.
The movie is selected for Oscar and Assam government has sanctioned 1 Crore Rs. for promotion of the film. Hope this beautiful tale is able to stand out at Oscar.
