Donald Trump nomination ceremony started with Sikh Ardaas

Before Donald Trump was officially nominated as the Republican candidate, Harmeet Dhillon a Republican committeewoman and lawyer and has performed Sikh ‘Ardaas’. She took the stage covered her head with a scarf as per the Sikh religion belief and explained the significance that the powerful, devotional chant carries.
Harmeet Dhillon, the vice-chairwoman of the California Republican Party, delivered the Sikh prayer on the national stage here in Punjabi and then translated it into English.
“Trump has a history of hiring the best talent. I fully expect to see many prominent Indian-Americans in the new administration,” Dhillon, who is the highest-ranking Indian-American in the Republican Party, said.
