Rajasthan Diwas

Rajasthan Diwas or Rajasthan Foundation Day is celebrated on 30th March when Rajputana was merged into the Dominion of India. Rajasthan is famous all over the world for its art and rich culture, it is a great tourist place special for its dress, food, language, and everything there is special in itself. Rajasthan is also synonymous with the dessert as it has the Great Indian Desert known as ‘Thar.’

Rajasthan holds importance in preserving and enriching the national heritage of India. Rajasthan, known as the ‘Land of Kings’ or ‘Land of Kingdom’, has an abundance of heritage and offers some of the best cities to explore. History of Rajasthan

Rajasthan is located in the western part of India and has been famous since ancient times. The ancient history of Rajasthan goes back to 5,000 years old, parts of Rajasthan were occupied by the Indus Valley Civilization. The region was called Rajputana under the British East India Company.

Rajasthan was ruled by many great Rajput rulers such as Bappa Rawal, Rana Kumbha, Rana Sanga, and Rana Pratap. Mewar was the most prominent and powerful state of Rajasthan in the medieval period. Before Independence, Rajasthan was divided into many princely states but was not a composite unit.

After India got independence in 1947, nineteen princely states and three chiefships of Rajputana were amalgamated into a single political unit, Rajasthan, that became a state within the Indian union. The state was a mix of two major regions of Rajasthan Mewar and Marwar. The name Rajasthan is coined by mixing two words ‘Raja’ which means ‘king’ and ‘sthan’ which means ‘locality’.

It was on 30 March 1949, when the princely states of Jodhpur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and Bikaner merged to form the Rajasthan Union. This day is considered the establishment day of Rajasthan, where people could bask in all its historic glory.

Rajasthan Diwas celebration

Rajasthan Diwas is celebrated to commemorate the majestic union of the former significant ‘Rajputana’ states into the glorious state of Rajasthan took place in the year 1949 exactly on the 30th of March. A number of events are held throughout the state to exhibit the marvelous heritage, tradition, and culture of Rajasthan. Rajasthani in a grand manner takes active participation to celebrate the auspicious day. The Tourism department of Rajasthan also organizes many cultural events in Jaipur to exhibit the marvelous heritage, tradition, and culture of Rajasthan.

Usually, the major function of Rajasthan Diwas is conducted in the Pink city of Jaipur. Throughout the day, numerous cultural events are conducted at the most important places in Jaipur such as Albert Hall, Amer Palace, Statue Circle, and Hawa Mahal. The colorful culture and tradition of Rajasthan are shown in various folk dances organized on an auspicious day. You cannot find any other festival that is so electrifying with the charisma and hilarity of both adults and children.

The beautiful state is famous for its royal architecture, vast desert, and vibrant culture, which also makes it a popular tourist spot in the country. Every year, Rajasthan Diwas is celebrated with a great endeavor to exhibit the marvelous heritage, tradition, and culture of Rajasthan. The festival is celebrated in a classy manner with its time-honored cuisines, folk arts, Rajasthani crafts, culture, sports, music, and dance.
