Homemade Scrubs to Exfoliate Skin
For radiant and glowing skin, you need to exfoliate it. That is removing dead skin cells. Exfoliating properly is one of the secrets to achieving soft, glowing skin. Exfoliating will remove dead skin cells, dry patches, uneven discoloration, and make pores appear smaller.
Exfoliating should leave your skin feeling healthy and refreshed, not sensitive, burning, or red. This would indicate that you are over-exfoliating. How often you should exfoliate is determined by which products you choose and your skin type. If your skin is very oily and you live in a warmer climate, you can exfoliate more. Exfoliating properly will actually allow the dry skin to hold onto more moisture.
There are a lot of products available in the market, but they contain harmful ingredients so the best way to exfoliate is to use homemade scrubs from things available in your kitchen. Here are a few scrubs that you can make from kitchen stuff.
1. Oatmeal Scrub
Oatmeals are good scrubs as it removes dead skin cells and impurities from your skin and leave it hydrated and nourished. Blend some oats in a blender to make a powder and mix it with water to form a paste. Apply it on the face and wash off
2. Almond Honey Scrub
Almonds are rich in antioxidant vitamins A and E and do wonders on your skin. Just soak the almonds overnight in water or in milk, in the morning peel their skin, and grind it to form a granular paste. Mix a little bit of honey and apply it on your face and rub in a circular motion and wash off your face with water.
3. Green Tea Scrub
Green tea contains antioxidant properties that may help to reactivate cells and fight against damaged skin. mix a bit of powder with water to create a paste. It will exfoliate, smooth, and “wake up” your skin. Or brew a green tea bag allow it to cool and add Sugar, Honey, Lemon and rub it on your body it works as a good exfoliate.
4. Baking Soda Scrub
Baking Soda is a super exfoliating ingredient as its granules size is just perfect for gentle exfoliating. A tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of coconut oil and rub together in your hands. Rub the mixture around on your face for about a minute and wash it off. You will feel the difference in this all-natural exfoliating treatment.
5. Sugar and Olive Oil Scrub
Sugar is also a great exfoliating ingredient as when mixed with water it becomes gentle glycolic acid which keeps skin smooth and fights scaling, and its size of granules is perfect for the face. You can either use white or brown sugar to mix it with Olive oil. It makes a great scrub for all skin types just apply it on your skin and scrub in a circular motion and wash it off with warm water.
6. Coffee Scrub
Coffee is a powerful scrub as it got an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. Grind the coffee beans in a food processor to get coarse granules to mix with sugar and olive oil. Apply it on your face scrubbing in a circular motion and wash off with warm water.
7. Rice and Curd Scrub
Grind the raw rice to form a coarse granule mix it with curd and rose oil. Apply it on your skin and wait till the scrub becomes dry, and wash it off with water. This scrub is very good for people having sensitive skin.
8. Orange Peel Scrub
After eating oranges don’t throw their peels as they can be very useful for your skin. Just dry the peels in sun for a few days and grind the dried peels in the grinder. It forms a very good exfoliating ingredient as it contains vitamin C and antioxidant properties. Just mix the orange peel powder with curd and make a smooth paste, apply it on your face and let it sit for 10 minutes, and wash off with water.
9. Sandlewood, Rice Powder, and Gram Flour Scrub
Sandlewood has anti-tanning and anti-aging Properties, it softens your skin and clears your complexion. Mix sandalwood powder with rice powder and gram flour in equal quantities mix it with a little rose water and milk to form a paste. apply this face on your face and let it dry, gently rub and wash it off will leave your skin soft and glowing.
10. Honey and Salt Scrub
Salt is also a good exfoliating component and works well on dry areas like elbows, knees and its size can be harsh for your face. Mix Honey with salt preferably sea salt and apply it on your skin, gently scrub and wash it off with water.
